GURU, you can definitely say he’s one of the most influencial MCs of all time. Being born in the 80’s, I grew up in the 90’s where most of my musical influence came from. And hands down, the 90’s is the best decade for Hip-Hop. A lot of hip-hop artist have made a major influence on me and hip-hop during that time, but only a few of them really stood out to me. One of them was GangStarr. I was completely clueless about his passing because I had high hopes and knew he was going to recover, but when I was told I was shocked and sad for a moment. Then I got nostalgic about times I listened to GangStarr cassete tapes in elementary school and Guru’s Jazzmatazz during some skate/snowboarding sessions. To end this post, here’s one of my favorite song from Guru’s Jazzmatazz. It also sends a good message along with the smooth beats and dope flows. Enjoy.
